Chip Robertson served as a Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court from 1985 to 1998, serving as Chief Justice from 1991 to 1993. He authored approximately 200 majority opinions during his service. He also is a former special consultant to the U.S. Attorney General.
Mr. Robertson heads up BFRG’s appellate practice division, which is known and respected nationally, as well as the firm’s class action/complex litigation practice.
He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Missouri, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eighth Circuits.
He is a recipient of The Missouri Bar President’s Award for outstanding contributions to The Missouri Bar.
Mr. Robertson graduated with distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1977, and was elected into the Order of the Bench and Robe. He attended the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1983, and earned a Masters of Law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990. Mr. Robertson is a member of the Alpha Chi scholastic honorary society, the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary society and the Phi Alpha Theta history honorary society.
For nine years he was an adjunct professor of constitutional law at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
