Mary Winter is a member of BFRG’s appellate practice team.
She earned her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1990. She earned a bachelor’s degree, graduating cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1981.
Ms. Winter is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Missouri and the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
She is an active community volunteer. Ms. Winter is a co-founder of Dreams to Reality, which helps low-income women meet their employment goals and build self-confidence by providing appropriate interview and business apparel, motivation, and follow-up support, without charge. She is also on the board of directors for Central Missouri Community Action, a partnership of eight agencies in eight counties providing services and support to people in poverty. She coordinates the efforts of Christmas Present, Inc., which purchases Christmas gifts and essential items for underprivileged children throughout the year. In addition, Ms. Winter is the founder of Jefferson City Helps, a city-wide effort by public, private and religious groups to adopt the city of Waveland, Mississippi, and respond to specific needs following Hurricane Katrina. She was also a member of the steering committee to establish the Jefferson City Samaritan Center’s Legal Care program, which provides pro-bono legal assistance to low-income individuals and families in the area. Ms. Winter has participated in mission work in Africa, Mexico and Peru for non-governmental organizations including Habitat for Humanity. She mentors at a local grade school and is an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Jefferson City.
She is a 2008 recipient of the Zonta Women of Achievement Award.
Ms. Winter is a member of The Missouri Bar and the Cole County Bar Association.
