ZOLOFT LITIGATION
BFRG is now pursuing cases involving the prescription drug Zoloft and other drugs which have been found to cause severe birth defects. Some women who took antidepressants or anti-seizure or migraine medicines during pregnancy have been found to have severe birth defects.
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI’s) are a class of antidepressants that can cause birth defects such as heart defects, Cleft Palate and Spina Bifida.
The following drugs have been linked:
Antidepressants
Zoloft (sertraline)
Paxil (paroxetine)
Prozac (fluoxetine)
Celexa (citalopram)
Wellbutrin (buproprion)
Seizure and Migraine Headaches
Topamax (topiramate)
Depakote (valproic acid)
Common birth defects associated with these drugs include:
- Heart defects
- Spina Bifida and other spinal and brain defects
- Cleft lip and palate
- Pulmonary (Lung) Hypertension and Pulmonary Stenosis
- Skull Bone Defects
- Deformities of the hands and feet, including club foot
- Deformities of the rectum and anus
